What is a meshwork?

A meshwork is a structured collaboration community. A meshwork aligns people around a shared purpose within a common framework.
Go here for a longer answer...

How does the meshwork work?

A meshwork at present has 3 "dimensions" which gener ally are called place/location, goal and role. The two dimensions on the right side and on top allow you to find people and informations on the intersection of these - this way you'll find all the information you need quite easy. (Details)

What is "Synchronicity" about?

On the Synchronicity page you'll find a good answer to the question, "Who - given my profile - and what information is close to me?" (Details)

image
Why, how and where do I create my profile?

Create your profile so that other meshwork participants can be matched with you and you appear at the right place in the meshwork. The more complete your profile is, the better the synchronicity view of contacts and information will be allow ing you to make full use of the potential of this community. (Details)

How to post and create content?

We have greatly enhanced the 'ordinary' blog functionality thereby allowing you to align whatever information you want to share with this meshwork or particular people. (Details)

imageWhy and how do I contact others?

Making contact with others allows you...

  • ... to create your own network of people that you would like to give access to certain material that you do not wish to share with everybody.
  • ... to create a Circle of Trust which allows you to select the people you want to show your content to and that you want to work with. (more here)
  • ... to directly send messages to other members of the meshwork. You can only send messages  within the system to people on your contact list (this way you can be sure you only get email from the people you want to have email from).
  • ... to keep up with what your contacts have created or uploaded to the meshwork. (Detailed help)

What are Circles of Trust and how to best use this functionality?

Maybe you noticed in your profile that you can determine for every text-item you can set who can see these data, or when you created a blog you saw the "Acces settings" right above the "save" button. Entering information into Leaders for Nature - and all Gaiaspace meshworks - is absolutely secure, and you are always in control as to who can see every piece of information that you share or upload here

You can think of Circles of Trust as fine grained access settings that you can use in different ways.

  • Only share information with those people you want to share it with
  • Form work groups around certain topics, and co-create documents and processes with others.
  • Easily change who can see and work on what.
  • Work in private and publish to everyone with one easy switch.

Here is how.

What are pages for and how to create them?

Pages have, what computer affecionados would call "wiki-functionality". That means, pages are very similar to content posts, only that their content can be co-authored by several people - and you can decide for every single page who can see it and who can edit it using the Circles of Trust functionality.(Details)

What is "Latest activity" about?

Opening the overview of the "Latest activities" you find what files, blogs, articles, photos etc. have been uploaded recently - the newest entry always is on top. By clicking either on the title or on the icon you can open the item directly.

How to create photo folders and upload pictures?

Go to Tools > Photos to upload pictures and photos in different albums. If you create a "New Album" please be sure to fill in Title, Caption and Tags as otherwise the system cannot properly save your album. (Details)

How do I send a message to someone?

After clicking on the little envelope in the top navigation bar you come to the Inbox of your messages.

You can send messages by clicking "Send a message" (Details)

What is "Latest discussion" about?

and

Where do I find and how to use the forum?

The Latest discussion is a special section of the Meshwork forum. A more detailed explanation of both you find here.

Using the search box

Right now the search function goes looking for what you typed in among people, files, pages, photos, blog entries - their titles or names, that is. Full text search will be implemented in the next version of this meshwork.

The RSS-feed

Right now the RSS feed can be used to keep up to date - using your feed-reader, which can be part of your browser or another application on your computer - on what goes on in very specific places in this meshwork. For the general activity of the whole meshwork take a look at Tools > Latest activity.
